Ingredients

Scale

Cheese

  • 1 wheel of Brie cheese (about 8 ounces)

Meat

  • 8 ounces Italian sausage (removed from casing)
  • 1 clove garlic, minced

Sweetener

  • 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup

Herbs & Oil

  • 1 teaspoon fresh rosemary or thyme, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Optional

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (for wrapping)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Sausage: Remove the sausage from its casing and cook it in a skillet over medium heat with olive oil and minced garlic until browned and fully cooked. Set aside to cool slightly.
  2. Prepare the Brie: If using a whole Brie wheel, carefully trim off the top rind to allow the cheese to melt more smoothly and blend well with the sausage.
  3. Assemble the Layers: Place the Brie on a baking dish or on a puff pastry sheet if using. Evenly distribute the cooked sausage over the top. Drizzle honey or maple syrup for a sweet contrast and scatter fresh herbs on top.
  4. Bake to Perfection: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the assembled Brie and sausage mixture for 15-20 minutes until the Brie is melted and the sausage is sizzling hot. If using puff pastry, bake until the pastry is golden and flaky around the edges.
  5. Serve Warm: Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes. Serve warm with crackers, baguette slices, or fresh vegetables for dipping.

Notes

  • Choose fresh, high-quality Italian sausage for the best flavor.
  • Do not overbake the Brie to maintain its creamy texture.
  • Let the Brie come to room temperature before baking to ensure even melting.
  • Toast crackers or bread for added crunch alongside the creamy Brie.
  • Use fresh rosemary or thyme rather than dried for vibrant aroma and flavor.
