Pepperoni Pizza Scrolls

Pepperoni Pizza Scrolls are crispy, cheesy snacks featuring a golden crust, gooey mozzarella, spicy pepperoni, and herbed tomato sauce. Perfect as quick snacks, party appetizers, or fun lunchbox treats, these scrolls combine bold flavors and textures effortlessly with easy steps and minimal ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale

Base

  • 1 portion pizza dough (homemade or store-bought)

Filling

  • 1/2 cup tomato pizza sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2025 slices pepperoni
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning (oregano, basil, garlic powder)

Finishing

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (for brushing)
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Dough: Lightly flour your work surface and roll out the pizza dough into a large rectangle about 10 by 15 inches, making sure it’s evenly thin.
  2. Spread the Sauce: Evenly spread a generous layer of tomato pizza sauce over the rolled dough, leaving a small border around the edges to seal the scrolls later.
  3. Add Cheese and Pepperoni: Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese across the sauce, then layer pepperoni slices evenly so every bite has that savory punch.
  4. Roll It Up: Starting at one of the long edges, carefully roll the dough into a tight log, making sure it’s even to prevent uneven cooking.
  5. Slice and Arrange: Using a sharp knife, cut the roll into about 1-inch thick slices and place them cut-side up on a parchment-lined baking tray, spaced slightly apart.
  6. Add Finishing Touches: Brush the tops of the scrolls with olive oil, sprinkle Italian seasoning and optional Parmesan cheese for an extra layer of flavor and golden finish.
  7. Bake to Perfection: Bake the scrolls in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 15-20 minutes until the dough is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Notes

  • Use cold dough for easier rolling to maintain structure and prevent tearing.
  • Don’t overload with filling to avoid soggy scrolls or difficulty rolling.
  • Use a sharp or serrated knife for clean slices without squishing the dough.
  • Space scrolls apart on the tray to allow even cooking and crispiness on all sides.
  • Brush with olive oil before baking to achieve a golden, crisp crust and prevent drying out.
