Ingredients

Scale

Dumpling Filling

  • Dumpling wrappers (fresh or store-bought), about 24 wrappers
  • 1/2 lb ground chicken or pork
  • 3 green onions, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp grated fresh ginger
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

Peanut Sauce

  • 1/3 cup peanut butter (creamy)
  • 1/4 cup coconut milk or water
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup
  • Chili flakes or Sriracha, to taste (optional)
  • 1 tsp sesame oil

Additional

  • Oil for brushing (vegetable or sesame oil), about 1-2 tbsp
  • Water for sealing dumplings

Instructions

  1. Prepare the filling: In a large bowl, combine ground chicken or pork with finely chopped green onions, minced garlic, grated ginger, and soy sauce. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated.
  2. Stuff the dumplings: Lay out dumpling wrappers on a flat surface. Place about one teaspoon of filling in the center of each wrapper. Moisten the edges of the wrapper with water, then fold and seal the dumpling firmly to prevent leaks during baking.
  3. Arrange dumplings on a baking sheet: Line a baking tray with parchment paper to prevent sticking. Place the dumplings flat on the tray, spacing them evenly apart to ensure crisp baking.
  4. Bake the dumplings: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly brush or spray the dumplings with oil to help them turn golden and crispy. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until dumplings are golden brown and cooked through.
  5. Make the peanut sauce: While dumplings are baking, whisk together peanut butter, coconut milk (or water), rice vinegar, soy sauce, honey (or maple syrup), and optional chili flakes until the sauce is smooth. Adjust consistency by adding more liquid if needed, then stir in sesame oil.
  6. Serve and enjoy: Once baked, transfer dumplings to a serving plate. Drizzle the peanut sauce over them or serve it on the side for dipping. Garnish with optional chopped peanuts, sliced green onions, sesame seeds, or fresh cilantro for an inviting presentation.

Notes

  • Use a light hand with oil to keep dumplings crispy without being greasy.
  • Seal dumplings carefully; keep edges moist but not overly wet to prevent openings during baking.
  • Test one dumpling first to ensure proper cooking time and adjust as needed.
  • Prepare the peanut sauce ahead of time and refrigerate to enhance flavors.
  • Customize heat level by gradually adding chili flakes or hot sauce to the peanut sauce.
