Ingredients

Scale

Steak and Veggies

  • 8 oz thinly sliced ribeye steak
  • 1 cup bell peppers, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste

Cheese and Breads

  • 6 oz fresh mozzarella cheese, grated or torn
  • 2 hoagie rolls

Instructions

  1. Prepare the ingredients: Thinly slice the ribeye steak and set aside. Wash and slice bell peppers and onions into thin strips. Grate or tear fresh mozzarella cheese so it is ready to melt.
  2. Cook the steak and veggies: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add sliced onions and bell peppers, sauté gently for 5-7 minutes until softened and lightly caramelized. Push veggies to one side of the skillet. Add steak slices, season generously with salt and pepper, and cook for 3-4 minutes until browned but still juicy.
  3. Combine and melt the cheese: Mix the steak and veggies evenly in the skillet. Spread the shredded mozzarella cheese over the mixture. Cover the pan with a lid or foil and let cheese melt for about 2 minutes until gooey and stretchy.
  4. Assemble your sandwich: Slice hoagie rolls lengthwise and toast lightly if desired. Spoon the cheesy steak and pepper filling into each roll, letting the cheese stretch enticingly. Serve immediately for the best melty experience.

Notes

  • Choose quality steak such as ribeye or sirloin thinly sliced for tenderness and flavor.
  • Do not overcook the steak to keep it medium-rare and juicy.
  • Use fresh mozzarella cheese for better melting and creamier taste.
  • Sauté vegetables slowly to caramelize and enhance sweetness.
  • Toast the rolls to prevent sogginess and add crunch.
