Garlic Potato Pops

Garlic Potato Pops

Garlic Potato Pops are crispy, golden-bite sized snacks that combine the rich aroma of fresh garlic with fluffy potatoes. Perfect as a quick treat or party appetizer, they deliver a satisfying crunch and customizable flavor to please all ages.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 2 lbs Russet potatoes, peeled and cut into small pieces
  • 45 fresh garlic cloves, finely minced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped

Optional Ingredients

  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan or cheddar cheese
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper or chili flakes (for spicy variation)
  • Additional herbs like rosemary or thyme

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Potatoes: Wash, peel, and cut the potatoes into small, even-sized pieces. Soak them in cold water for 30 minutes to remove excess starch for better crispiness.
  2. Boil the Potatoes: Drain the soaked potatoes and boil them in salted water for 8-10 minutes until just tender but still holding their shape.
  3. Mash and Season: Drain potatoes thoroughly and transfer to a bowl. Add finely minced garlic, olive oil, salt, pepper, chopped herbs, and optional cheese. Mash gently, keeping some texture.
  4. Shape the Pops: Roll portions of the mixture into bite-sized balls roughly the size of a walnut. Place them evenly spaced on a parchment-lined baking tray.
  5. Cook Until Golden: Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes, turning them halfway through. Alternatively, deep-fry until golden and crispy.
  6. Serve Warm: Let the pops cool slightly before serving to maintain perfect texture and vibrant flavors.

Notes

  • Use starchy potatoes like Russets for the best crispness and fluffy interior.
  • Soaking potatoes removes excess starch, essential for crunch.
  • Fresh garlic is preferred over garlic powder for intense flavor.
  • Keep pops uniform in size to ensure even cooking.
  • Turn pops halfway through cooking to ensure all sides brown evenly.
