Ingredients

Scale

Protein

  • 8 oz flank or sirloin beef strips, thinly sliced

Vegetables

  • 2 cups fresh broccoli florets
  • 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Noodles

  • 8 oz egg noodles or Asian noodles

Sauce

  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, freshly minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar or honey
  • 1 tsp sesame oil

Other

  • 2 tbsp cooking oil (such as vegetable or canola oil)
  • Optional: toasted sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Noodles: Cook your noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside, reserving a small amount of cooking water to loosen the sauce if needed.
  2. Cook the Beef: Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the thinly sliced beef strips and sear quickly until browned but still tender, about 2 to 3 minutes. Remove the beef and set aside.
  3. Sauté the Broccoli: In the same pan, add another tablespoon of oil and toss in the broccoli florets. Stir-fry for 3 to 4 minutes until bright green and just tender but still crisp.
  4. Make the Sauce: Mix together soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, brown sugar (or honey), and sesame oil. Pour the sauce over the broccoli in the pan, then add the beef back. Stir everything to coat evenly.
  5. Combine with Noodles: Add the cooked noodles to the pan with beef and broccoli. Stir gently to combine and warm everything together for 1 to 2 minutes. Add reserved noodle water if needed to loosen the sauce.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Serve hot, garnished with chopped green onions and optionally toasted sesame seeds for extra flavor and presentation.

Notes

  • Slice beef thinly against the grain for tenderness and quick cooking.
  • Don’t overcook broccoli — keep it crisp for best texture and vibrant color.
  • Use high heat when stir-frying to enhance flavor through slight caramelization.
  • Reserve a little noodle water to adjust the sauce consistency as needed.
  • Use fresh ginger instead of powdered for the best flavor.
  • Optional additions: red pepper flakes or sriracha for heat, extra vegetables like bell peppers or snap peas, or double the sauce for more richness.
  • To make gluten-free, use tamari instead of soy sauce and substitute rice or gluten-free noodles.
