Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 200250g beef strips (thinly sliced flank or sirloin)
  • 200g fresh broccolini, trimmed and rinsed
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, minced

Sauce

  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce (or tamari/coconut aminos for gluten-free)
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar or honey
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil (plus extra for finishing)
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch

Cooking Oils and Extras

  • 12 tablespoons vegetable oil (for stir-frying)
  • Optional: chili flakes or fresh chili for heat
  • Optional: toasted sesame seeds or chopped cashews for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Ingredients: Slice the beef thinly against the grain for tenderness. Trim and rinse the broccolini, cutting thicker stems in half to ensure even cooking. Mince the garlic and ginger so they are ready to use.
  2. Make the Stir Fry Sauce: In a small bowl, combine the soy sauce, brown sugar or honey, a splash of sesame oil, and cornstarch. Mix well to create a smooth sauce that will thicken during cooking.
  3. Cook the Beef: Heat vegetable oil in a large wok or skillet over high heat. Add the beef strips in a single layer and sear quickly until they just start to brown but remain tender, then push to one side of the pan.
  4. Stir Fry Aromatics and Broccolini: Add the minced garlic and ginger to the empty side of the pan, stirring until fragrant. Toss in the broccolini and stir-fry until it turns bright green and is slightly tender but still crisp.
  5. Combine and Sauce: Pour the prepared sauce over the beef and broccolini, tossing everything to coat evenly. Cook for another 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens and the flavors meld together.
  6. Serve Immediately: Once the stir fry is glossy and well coated with sauce, plate it up while hot. Garnish with toasted sesame seeds or chopped green onions if desired.

Notes

  • Slice beef thinly against the grain for maximum tenderness.
  • Use high heat to lock in flavor and keep ingredients crisp.
  • Don’t overcrowd the pan; cook in batches if necessary.
  • Use fresh broccolini for the best crunch and sweetness.
  • Prep all ingredients before cooking to speed up the process.
  • Optional: customize with tofu, extra veggies, or spicy elements.
